Hey guys! I see that some people mention that Mturk gets worse with each passing year, do you think this is due to the pandemic and that this year there should be a perspective of improvement?
definitely not. MTurk started slowing down around 2016 and then the great Bot attack on this and other platforms caused a lot of requesters to leave the HIT world for their own internal platforms. It is for sure slower now but it's relative to how long you've been on mTurk. For me, I never planned on this being a way to make a living. It was something to do while I was unemployed and looking and for about 5 years I could work nearly 6 hours a day on mturk while holding down the monitoring role I had. My daily goal has never been more than $20 and it's been a struggle to reach that over the last maybe 4 years. With my current role I don't have time during the day to do much so I'm lucky to make $4 on a day. Generally though, the pandemic is not the cause of the slower AMT.
