Melancholy tonight. I'm listening to this song and remembering an experience that I had a lot of years ago. I was 14, and taking a bus from Ky to Ks to visit my dad's parents. I was 14, the man (boy) in the seat next to me was wearing an army uniform and crying. Halfway through the trip, he fell asleep and fell over onto my shoulder. Eventually I fell asleep too, when I woke the next morning, he was gone. I never even knew his name, but I've thought of him so many times over the years.

It's funny how some things really stick in our minds, even if it was a brief experience.

I remember this older man who I was seated next to on a plane once (I was going back to college after Christmas break). It was a long flight, and we talked about all sorts of things for a few hours on the trip. He seemed like such an interesting and wise person. It was one of those times where you've just met someone, but feel like you've known them for a long time. It's kind of hard to explain.

Anyway, this guy traveled extensively for his job and kept a journal about interesting things that happened to him on his trips. Before we got off the plane, he told me about the journal and said he had loved meeting and talking to me so much that he was going to devote an entry in this journal about meeting me. I thought that was so lovely!

So, even though that was such a brief moment in my life, I've never forgotten it, and I still think about it from time to time.
