Yea! Ohio!
Not from Ohio, but my mother is so she made buckeyes occasionally.
This is the recipe I use when I make them. Most other recipes I've come across use way too much confectioners sugar and somewhat too little on the semi-sweet morsels.
Ingredients
16 ounces creamy peanut butter
32 ounces confectioners sugar
1 stick (8 Ounces) salted butter (room temperature)
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
30 ounces semi-sweet chocolate morsels
Directions
Mix peanut butter, butter, and vanilla extract together in a large bowl. Then mix in confectioners sugar.
Roll into 1-inch balls either by hand or using a scoop and place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment/wax paper.
Place toothpicks into the top of each ball and put the cookie sheet into the freezer for around 45 minutes.
Melt the chocolate morsels by stirring until smooth using a double boiler or a large pot and double boiler insert, in slightly simmering water.
Dip the balls into the chocolate using the toothpick as a handle and place the balls back onto the cookie sheet. Freeze them for about 15 minutes and then place in the fridge until serving.
