Description: In this study we are investigating how individuals make decisions about different types of rewards using a decision making task in which you will be presented with two options and asked to make a decision. The decision task will include decisions that hypothetically affect yourself and a charity in your hometown. This study will take approximately 60 minutes to complete. You will also be asked demographic questions (age, gender, ethnicity, education, income, language) as well as health-related questions. In some of the surveys there may be questions you are uncomfortable answering. If so, you are welcome to skip these questions. Up to 120 participants will participate in this study. This study is funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (RGPIN-2018-04455). To be eligible, participants must reside in the U.S. or Canada. You must also be between the ages of 60 and older, and you must be comfortable reading and writing in English. You will also need to pass basic questions meant to screen out inattentive participants. You will receive $5.00 USD for participating in this study. If you do not feel comfortable participating for this amount of compensation, we kindly ask that you not participate. This study has been reviewed by the Ryerson Research Ethics Board (REB- 2020-357).
