Numerous women I worked with were followed home and generally stalked by some customers that we had to basically threaten outright to get them to stop.

Electronics brings in a certain demographic of complete shitheads.
Seems about right. Most places I've worked as a server had rules about having a "buddy system" for getting to our cars after close, for the same reason. People are freaking weird.

There was one night where I looked out the window and cops were surrounding the whole building with guns drawn. It turned out that the new guy in the back hit the silent alarm, and I was too busy (it was only the 2 of us) to answer the phone when I got the call asking for the password.
idiot co-workers. One of the places I worked was next to a strip club. we'd go over there when it was slow. One night my coworker had been drinking more than we normally drank on the job (ha 1980's were great) and he tried to tip the dancer from all the change he got in tips that night. he got belligerent with her when she laughed at him and said hell no and threw the change at her. It was a magnificent display of bouncer beat down if you are into that kind of thing. Luckily i wasn't drunk enough to miss the clues about what was about to go down. I was backing away like that no no no octopus gif when he threw the change.

haha, food service. I delivered pizzas in college. One time i came back from a run and there were cop cars everywhere. The manager on duty had a shootout with some dude who tried to rob the store. Several of the drivers I knew were robbed while making deliveries. The owner of one place I worked skipped the country hours before the tax collectors who swarmed over our store and grabbed all the books. Seemed the clown had been collecting our personal income taxes from our checks but not paying any of that money to the government.
Oh, and I have one I have to share because it was the worst night I've ever had working any job.

So, I live in a small town so the most we ever had on the midnight shift was the person running the shift (me) and one other person.

One weekend, we ended up having the KKK in the area for a rally. For some reason, they decided to schedule a high school aged black guy with me that night to work.

Of course, with us being the only place open 24 hours, they all ended up there drunk at around 1 am or so. I have no clue what they would have done if they saw her, so I had to make her hide back in the break room until they were all completely gone.

So basically, it was me trying to make all of the orders and take the orders for about 100 drunk retarded KKK members. At the same time, a large portion of them were ordering bags of ice, and hardee's doesn't have the bags of ice already made. You have to make them as the orders come through.

I almost walked out completely that night, and I think it helped me get to the point where I hate most people.

I've spent my entire adult life working in the food and bev industry, and quite honestly I like it. Sure, some people are jerks, but that's part of the experience. Some people are really enjoyable though, and the fact of the matter is, (and this is another thing that Mturk taught me) I'll never meet the good people if I don't leave my house. Every once in a while you get the sweetest couple or family or just one individual and you have the opportunity to make their lunch or their dinner really special. I love that. Especially in this town, where people are coming here for vacations and special experiences.
