I do, at least with Beggin' Strips. To a hungry 8 year old, it tasted like cheap bacon.

I though my new step-aunt was the coolest person ever when I first visited her house, because she kept bacon just sitting in a candy jar in her kitchen! Turns out it was not bacon, but doggy treats. Which also explains why her schnauzer loved me so much and kept giving me kisses all day..

Salted pork has been used in worse conditions. You could probably go with turkey bacon too... that stuff is basically baby tears and plastic, it could keep in the jar for a full nuclear winter.
